We believe in reading as much information as possible so you can get an accurate and clear handle on your situation. The reason that we created lousyspouse.com is because we want to share the information that helped us the most. It can be overwhelming at first, but dive in and start reading because knowing what questions to ask is the first step in finding answers.

So many sites are come-ons to hire lawyers, purchase their forms, books or other services, so take any advice you find online with a grain of salt.  Here are the websites (besides this one!) that we would suggest checking out:

For state-specific advice, we found Divorce Net.  Some of the articles are years old, but how much could have changed?

For women specifically is Womans divorce.

For fathers there is a legal firm's site that addresses specific issues for you on DadsDivorce. They have a great area for advice directly from a lawyer, who may not be in your state, but a legal opinion is always helpful.

There are also great sites and organizations that can help out after the divorce. Check out Parents without Partners, and see if there's a chapter in your area. Starting one may be the thing to mobilize you!

As for parenting advice, the wealth of advice can easily overwhelm you. We recommend Nick, Jr's site for young kids, ADDitude magazine has a great site for those with "extremely active" children, and then dealing with the older set offers another set of problems and solutions, try Teen Parenting.
